Keep Calm – Year 5 had a sleepover…!

On Friday 6th July 2018 Year 5 children and adults had a lot of fun at our very first Year 5 sleepover! We played games, watched the world cup, went on a spooky night walk around the school and ended the night snuggled into our sleeping bags surrounded by our friends! Have a look at some of our after school sleepover fun…

Year 5 Swanlea Taster Day

Last week Year 5 spent a lovely day at Swanlea Secondary School getting acquainted with the school and taking part in some fun KS3 lessons. We had lots of fun dissecting animal hearts and making bath bombs in Science, creating tribal masks in Art and participating in fun outdoor PE lessons. This was a good taster for all that is to come!

Year 2’s amazing trip to London Zoo!

Year 2 visited London Zoo to see all the wonderful wildlife. We had a great time seeing many different species of animals including: monkeys, lions, turtles, giraffes and even some snappy alligators. In the amphitheatre, we watched a live show which demonstrated birds of prey in action. We also learnt interesting facts about penguins and also how they are adapted to their environment. Did you know that most penguins live in the Southern Hemisphere?

Pollution Solution Performance

The Year 4 children enjoyed a performance of ‘Pollution Solution’ this week. Big Wheel Theatre Company visited our school and demonstrated the effects of pollution on our planet in a fun and engaging performance.

The show taught us about three key areas:

  • Global warming – how our transport choices affect the world.
  • The impact of traffic, air pollution and congestion in our local area.
  • Why walking and cycling are almost always the best way to get around and how to do this safely.

Some children commented that they ‘really enjoyed the performance because it showed us how pollution affects the world in a really fun way.’

Year 1 at Chalkwell Beach

What a lovely day it was! We travelled to Chalkwell farm on a chartered train. It was a pebbly beach, there was a shallow paddling pool and we dipped our feet inside to keep cool. We splashed around the water all the adults and children were soaked but we had so much fun. Towards the end of the trip we enjoyed a delicious, creamy ice-cream.
