As part of our Christmas story we learnt about Baby Jesus. We visited Spitalfield’s farm to meet our local donkey and look at other animals that live on the farm.
‘The donkey eating grass.’- Ya-Qi
‘That’s the donkey. Like Mary ride to Bethlehem.’ -Muaaz
‘The horse in the stable…Baby Jesus in stable.’-Ibrahim
The children had an opportunity to look around the farm and talk about the different animals and their homes.
In class, during literacy children have been writing invitations to invite their family and carers to the winter festival where we will be performing our own ‘nativity’.
This half term our topic in nursery is ‘celebration’, as part of this we are learning about different celebrations such as Halloween, Diwali, Birthdays and Christmas.
We read the story ‘Meg and Mog’ and made our very own magic potions. Children were excited to put things into the cauldron and cast a spell on their friend, this promoted opportunities for speaking and listening, group play, sharing resources and most importantly engagement from all children!!
As part of the ‘birthday’ theme the children assisted the adults to write a class shopping list for a party during the literacy carpet session. Adults and children used the list to do the shopping and ended the week with a class party.
