First we went to the train station and took the train to Tower Hill. We walked round and saw the beautiful castle. We saw armour and swords they were so shiny. Some of the boys wanted us to take them back to school, but we didn’t. Then we went to see the crown Jewels. We saw the Queen’s crown, it had so many jewels. We saw some lots of different jewels; sapphires, diamonds, emeralds and rubies. We thought they looked pretty as they were really glittering in the light.
After that we had a snack and came back to school. We really enjoyed it because we got to see and go inside a real castle!
Since coming back to school, we have built our own Towers of London out of 3D shapes! We can talk in lots of detail about the different parts of a castle.
In Reception, we have had a wonderful time exploring the Library of Everything! It mysteriously appeared in the parents room of our school one weekend and after stepping inside, children and adults alike were enchanted.
We met the librarian, Peabody, and became friends right away. She showed us many magical things and also her empty bookshelf! The children all agreed right away that we could help Peabody by writing stories for her empty shelf.
Our topic this term is Farm Animals, so we decided to write stories all about pigs, cows, sheep, hens, horses and ducks! Once our stories were completed, we put them in the Library of Everything for Peabody to find.
Strangely, the Library disappeared one night and we haven’t seen it again! If you should happen to come across it, please let us know!
In Reception we have been learning about 2D shapes. It was a little bit tricky at the start, but now we can recognise them and talk about the corners and sides. We’ve been having a go at drawing them too!
