On Friday 5th February year 3 Orange and year 3 Gold went to visit the Science Museum. We took part in an amazing workshop about forces, which tied in perfectly with our Science topic. We were given a chance to discuss what makes bridges strong and we were shown how to make structures stronger by adding support. We were also shown how strong egg shells actually are, we were all amazed by how much weight egg shells can hold before cracking!
After our workshop we were given a chance to roam around the Science Museum and have a look at all of the magnificent things they have, we had a wonderful day!
Year 3 Orange went to the Tate Modern to attend an art workshop! We got a guided tour around the gallery and had a chance to look at all of the amazing pieces of art. The workshops were fantastic! Some of us got to use different materials and create our own sculptures while the others created sculptures using clay. We all really enjoyed the day.
This half term we have been learning about volcanoes as part of our ‘Active Planet’ topic. We have already found out a lot of interesting facts about volcanoes, but the learning doesn’t stop there. Next week we will be making our own volcanoes and even making them erupt, which should be great fun!
To deepen our understanding of volcanoes we will be heading down to the Natural History museum on 16th October, watch this space for pictures of our trip!
