Greisman (lead photo courtesy of Getty Images) In the history of boxing, there's never been a case more compelling than the current one surrounding middleweight champion Andre Ward and his decision to not seek a rematch with the winner of Saturday's super-fight between Keith Thurman and Amir Khan. While we will doubtless debate who won Saturday night, one undeniable fact stands out: It was definitely the fans who won with a record-breaking, sellout crowd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas who, by a 51.7 percent margin, voted in Clomid online pharmacy uk Thurman through a coin flip. The decision ended up being a relatively quiet one, with neither Thurman nor Khan, who was knocked out in 11 rounds his last fight against Miguel Cotto, returning to win at the MGM or even securing a decision victory outright. But that was fine by David Greisman of HBO Sports, who was one of two journalists in attendance who took part the coin toss on telecast. "The question was basically who's next at the MGM?" Greisman said during a Wednesday appearance on The MMA Hour. "And way they did their coin toss for the MGM is biggest fight in sports history — the fight with Muhammad Ali versus Sugar Ray Leonard, and that's what made a lot of people feel there was a lot of hype. For fans to actually get their $75 just walk out and vote… [Ward] was clearly the face of sport for him to say, 'Don't throw a coin, this is an important fight because Andre Ward won a decision, and that's why everyone's going to go home happy tonight.' Because the decision means everything. That's how most fights are decided in a sporting event. So that's what they wanted to do." In that sense, it was a success, although perhaps not as an HBO Sports insider might have anticipated: In terms of a TV rating, how did the coin flip play out? "We got a big, big number… The thing they did is flipped a coin, and they just went on the first side of coin," Greisman said. "One side had the number one and other side had the number two. And they just went on that side. It was obviously a big number. The TV ratings for fight were the best ratings we've ever had for the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight. I generic cialis in canada think there were maybe 10,000 in the city for it at MGM. So a very, very big, big number, and there were a lot of other people who showed up and tremendous support for Andre Generic cialis online bestellen Ward here in Vegas, and the other fighters throughout weekend and everything. For people to actually vote and not have Thurman or Khan coming back was obviously a very big blow. But the decision went into Andre Ward's hands. Ward was the guy everyone wanted to see win. They thought he won the fight. Now they are really upset with Kevin Casey for voting Amir Khan." Greisman was clear about the importance he placed on decision, and said it wasn't just for Ward as a fighter: "Because Andre Ward didn't win, because the fans want to see Thurman or Khan back, and because everyone thinks he might not want to fight again after what happened to him four years ago," Greisman said. "I understand that now how upset they are with Kevin Casey. I can understand that." "There was something very interesting going on in there for the fans," he continued.

One hundred years ago, on May 31, 1917, two opposing sides took their place as leaders of world war to come. Adolph Hitler, the ruthless leader of Germany and an avowed atheist who believed in a cosmic conflict between Aryan good and evil, became the leader of new world order. Meanwhile, a charismatic Italian anarchist, Max Stirner, led a revolt against the authoritarian world order of Versailles Treaty 1918. It is through history we learn that in war, as the struggle for supremacy, some men are motivated by a hatred of humanity. But many other men choose to dedicate themselves serving humanity. Such is the case with Max Stirner. Max Stirner's "In Defense of Violence" (1844) is one the most cited works in American philosophy. He wrote "The Ego and His Own" in 1844, an essay that outlines the tenets of "anarchism." He describes the individual as "a kind of being that can stand or fall by its own strength," but adds: "That is the essence of violence, and every violence is necessarily violent." One of the most lasting lessons First World War was the violent backlash it instigated against the authority seeking to stamp out anti-war demonstrations. In Germany, where the idea of Übermensch (superman) embodied German militarism, more than 75,000 people went on the rampage. first week, they set fire to 150 churches, art houses, opera cinemas, railroad stations, and the homes of government officials. "The whole world will shudder at the sight," wrote German poet Erich Mühsam, cialis from canada with a prescription adding: "The enemy will soon be forced to realize that it is not the sword that Cialis 40 Pills 50mg $220 - $5.5 Per pill lever of their strength, but the sword which, like most ancient weapon...has driven a thousand times out every human fortress" -- a reference to the Roman legions. Germany was a country where, for years, popular slogan on beer bottles had proclaimed, "Ich bin sich der Reich"; a slogan that meant, "I am a German." However, it is the slogan "Ich bin sich der Aufpfehlung deutscher Reich," which first appeared on the walls of Berlin in 1918, describing the world as under German domination. In response to the uprising Berlin, Germany declared war on its former country of Austria-Hungary in March 1844 and invaded Serbia in April. When the two foes were at war for 60 days, the United States, alarmed because it was losing the war to Britain at sea, immediately sided with Germany. The U.S. President, Andrew Jackson, became the first official United States citizen to be killed when a U.S. flag was set on fire in Washington. Stirner's work in the summer of 1914, "Der Einzige und sein Eigentum," was rejected as "utter rubbish" by many professors of philosophy at the University Berlin. They argued that "the most important thing for a society to remember is that the people are real rulers." Nevertheless, one of the most important parts Stirner's work for anarchists is in "In Defense of Violence." He wrote: "I am not the first human being who wishes to destroy God in others -- I have no special desire to do it in myself, for that would be mad." Stirner also wrote: "It is not a man who sets out to destroy God or make women and beasts his slaves; it is God"

Soane Centre

On Monday 26th September, Year 4 went on a wonderful trip to the Soane Centre.  At the Soane Centre, the children learnt about temperature and how it is a measure of how hot or cold things are. They also identified some of the materials that make good thermal insulators.

The children had the opportunity to use these insulators when building a model house to keep it warm.  Take a look at their work!

Year 4 Make Roman Shields!

In Year 4 Saffron and Amber, the topic this half term has been The Romans. We have been learning a lot about Roman history, Roman geography, Roman stories and myths and Roman armies. The Romans fought in huge armies and they had very strong armour, like helmets and shields. In Design and Technology lessons we designed and made these shields ourselves! Thank you very much to all of the families who sent in cardboard to make this project possible!

First we had to carefully cut and stick two pieces of cardboard together so that we had a strong base for our shield.

Then we used our design to draw on our interesting pattern, in the style of Roman Armour.
