Year 6 visited the London Fire Brigade in Whitechapel to celebrate their 150^th anniversary. We learnt about the history of the fire service and had the opportunity to use a real fire hose. We were taught about how developments in technology have changed fire fighters’ uniforms and the other emergencies fire fighters see to other than fires. In the first aid workshop, we learnt how to put on a bandage.

 

Year 2 and Year 6 had a special visit from a few birds of prey where we were able to watch them in action. We were introduced to: an English barn owl, an African owl and a hawk. The birds of prey have adapted to suit their environment and their hunting styles. Some of us also had the opportunity to have an owl perch on our arm.
